Why is Yoshua so Famous?

technology ai

Yoshua Bengio is a Canadian computer scientist. He is a Canadian computer scientist who is well-known for his research on deep learning and artificial neuron networks. In fact, he's also a professor at the Department of Computer Science and Operations Research at the Universite de Montreal, and the scientific director of the Montreal Institute for Learning Algorithms. But what makes him so well-known?

Computer Science Professor

Yoshua Binggio, Professor of Computer Sciences and the University of Montreal, has been a world-renowned specialist in artificial intelligence. His groundbreaking work in deep and machine learning won him the 2018 A.M. Turing Award. Yoshua is the founder of Mila AI Institute in Quebec, as well as his academic research. He is also a Senior Fellow in CIFAR and Scientific Director of IVADO. His numerous awards and honors include the Killam Prize and Fellow of Royal Society of Canada.

Pioneer in deep learning

Yoshua Bengio is a Montreal-based computer scientist and pioneer of deep learning. He is a cofounder at Element AI, the Montreal Institute for Learning Algorithms head, and holds a Canada Research Chair for Statistical Learning Algorithms. Bengio's most famous contributions to deep learning are neural language models, machine translation, and biologically inspired machine learning.

Creator of Learning in Machines and Brains

Yoshua Benjamingio, an internationally acclaimed Canadian researcher in artificial intelligence, is a professor at University of Montreal. He also serves as Scientific Director of the Mila-IVADO labs. He has been awarded the A.M. Turing Award for computing and was made a Fellow of Royal Society of London. He is also co-director at the CIFAR Institute of Learning in Machines and Brains.

Co-founder of Element AI

Element AI raised $151 million in venture funding from several investors, including Intel Capital, Data Collective and Hanwha Asset Management. The company's new funding will allow it to expand its AI solutions, and accelerate its deployment. McKinsey & Co., the National Bank of Canada, and McKinsey & Co. already support the company.

Turing Award recipient

Yoshua Binggio, who was a pioneer in deep neural network research, won the Turing Award earlier in the year. He is also a professor at University of Montreal where he holds Canada Research Chair in Statistical Learning Algorithms. He is also the founder of Mila, a Quebec-based artificial intelligence institute. Bengio was also the recipient of the Prix Marie-Victorin award, which is the highest honour given by Quebec in the fields of pure and applied science.

FAQ

What is the role of AI?

An algorithm is an instruction set that tells a computer how solves a problem. An algorithm is a set of steps. Each step has a condition that dictates when it should be executed. The computer executes each step sequentially until all conditions meet. This is repeated until the final result can be achieved.

For example, suppose you want the square root for 5. One way to do this is to write down all numbers between 1 and 10 and calculate the square root of each number, then average them. That's not really practical, though, so instead, you could write down the following formula:

sqrt(x) x^0.5

You will need to square the input and divide it by 2 before multiplying by 0.5.

A computer follows this same principle. It takes your input, multiplies it with 0.5, divides it again, subtracts 1 then outputs the result.

How will governments regulate AI?

While governments are already responsible for AI regulation, they must do so better. They need to ensure that people have control over what data is used. They must also ensure that AI is not used for unethical purposes by companies.

They should also make sure we aren't creating an unfair playing ground between different types businesses. You should not be restricted from using AI for your small business, even if it's a business owner.

What are some examples AI apps?

AI can be used in many areas including finance, healthcare and manufacturing. Here are a few examples.

  • Finance - AI has already helped banks detect fraud. AI can detect suspicious activity in millions of transactions each day by scanning them.
  • Healthcare - AI can be used to spot cancerous cells and diagnose diseases.
  • Manufacturing - AI can be used in factories to increase efficiency and lower costs.
  • Transportation – Self-driving cars were successfully tested in California. They are being tested in various parts of the world.
  • Energy - AI is being used by utilities to monitor power usage patterns.
  • Education - AI has been used for educational purposes. For example, students can interact with robots via their smartphones.
  • Government - AI is being used within governments to help track terrorists, criminals, and missing people.
  • Law Enforcement-Ai is being used to assist police investigations. Databases containing thousands hours of CCTV footage are available for detectives to search.
  • Defense - AI is being used both offensively and defensively. Artificial intelligence systems can be used to hack enemy computers. For defense purposes, AI systems can be used for cyber security to protect military bases.
